So I'm guessing this takes place at the same time as "The Artist", though the main characters of both don't share much of a connection in either story?

yes, it takes place on the same time span as the artist. right to the moment where it ends for the artist's side of the story.

and yeah, its more of a branch out from the artist of another perspective. my plan for this series is to cover each and every person the artist walk pass or interacted briefly with.

I noticed that the jumping button seems to not work on platforms with ladders on them. You might want to look into fixing that.
